The boy child Foundation Mentoring street children in Nairobi
Boys have been neglected at home and in the society. Some have turned to the street abusing drugs and turning to crime. They need to be mentored and taken back to school.
We found that most street children are boys and migrate to the streets for one of the following reasons which include:
Poverty
Sexual, physical or emotional abuse
Urbanization
Being forced into criminal activity
Drugs and substance abuse
HIV/AIDS
Mental health issues
Being rejected from their family.
The Boy child foundation team noted that most of them have good talents e.g composing songs and drawing. and some are eager to return to school. The team mentored them and encouraged them to go back to school by referred them to children homes the help street children. The team also donated food and non-food items such as clothes.
